Death at Recycling Plant Results in $58K Fine

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has determined that the death of an employee at Atlas Metal & Iron Corp. in west Denver could have been prevented.

Abel Marmolejo, 52, was killed in September 2014 when a scrap metal baler reactivated while he was working on it. After an inspection that followed the incident, OSHA investigators found 12 safety violations at the Denver-based Atlas Metal & Iron Corp.
