Ecomelida Launches North American Operations in Orangeburg County, S.C.
The new recycling plant is expected to create 200 new jobs.
Ecomelida, Inc., a subsidiary of Zhangzhou Sanlida Environmental Technology Corporation, has announced its plans to launch its North American operations in Orangeburg County, S.C. The company will construct a $52 million recycling facility that is expected to create 200 jobs.
"Today marks another chapter for our company as we invest in this new Orangeburg County plant. We are thankful for the assistance we have received from the state and county governments and look forward to years of continued success," said Xi Cheng, madam chairman of Ecomelida, Inc., in a statement.
The facility is expected to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2018. Ecomelida has been granted $750,000 from the Rural Infrastructure Fund to assist with site preparation and construction, and the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
"We're excited to welcome Ecomelida to the South Carolina business community. The 200 jobs they're bringing to Orangeburg County will be a tremendous, positive impact to that community," said Governor of South Carolina Henry McMaster in a statement.
