EIA, EREF Update Waste, Recycling Safety Manual

The Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) and the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) have partnered to update the waste and recycling industry safety manual for the first time in more than a decade.

The Washington-based EIA and the Raleigh, N.C.-based EREF released the third edition of the Manual of Recommended Safety Practices for the waste and recycling industry. The safety reference guide was updated by a team of industry safety professionals to include a greater emphasis on recycling than previous editions, according to a news release.

The manual will help safety practitioners and operations managers handle the most significant safety challenges facing waste and recycling companies and can serve as a resource for all types of waste and recycling personnel.

 “I am excited that EIA is able to offer this great safety resource to the industry,” said Phil Hagan, EIA director of safety. “Members and non-members alike are continually working to enhance their safety efforts, and this manual is an ideal source of safety information and related program elements.”

For the first time, EIA will offer companies multi-copy licenses for the safety manual. The manual will be downloadable for e-readers (Kindle or iPad) or available as a printed-and-bound book.

EIA members may purchase a copy of the updated manual for $275 per copy. The non-member price is $400 per copy.
