Florida County Terminations Contract with Waste Hauler Due to Missed Pickups, 5,000 Complaints

St. Johns County, Fla. terminated its contract with FCC Environmental Services Florida earlier this week due to delays and angered customers.

St. Johns County, Fla. terminated its contract with FCC Environmental Services Florida earlier this week due to delays and angered customers.

Trash hauler FCC Environmental Service Florida took over trash pickup services for the county on Aug. 1 and since has had a string of late pickups, quickly getting on the bad side of residents. While the contract with FCC is terminated, the company will continue service for the next 12 months, but county commissioners have voted to use a sub-waste provider to serve the community in the meantime.

FCC’s CEO, Dan Brazil, stated that the company had received 5,000 complaints of missed trash pick-up.
