Beaufort County, S.C. is working with a new recycling company that will look to teach the area about recycling as well as manage the county’s materials.

I2recycle is coming in to help with the 155,000 tons of trash produced by Beaufort County, of which only 22,000 pounds gets recycled.

“The more things are recycled the less garbage ends up in a landfill, which is better for the Lowcountry environment,” said Beaufort County Solid Waste and Recycling Program Manager, Victoria Hoffman. “This contract is starting with a new vendor who we’ve not used previously, and we’re really excited to partner with them. They are a recycling company.”

“They’re not a waste company. They’re vetted. They’re really excited to get on board with us and not only increase recycling but also ensure that residents are well educated and doing it correctly,” she added.
