Earlier this week, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced millions of dollars in grants for projects that will expand recycling efforts throughout the state.

The grant month, worth $9 million, will go to cities and counties across the state of Kentucky and will fund 73 projects. These projects will look to reduce the amount of solid waste going to landfills and improve the handling of household hazardous waste. The funding will be used to purchase new recycling equipment and other equipment to manage food and organic waste.

"Kentucky is fortunate that so many municipalities are stepping up to reuse and recycle to reduce the amount of solid waste piling up in our landfills,” said Beshear. "This shows care for the environment and for each other."
