In a move to keep up with the collection and avoid further delays, the city of Little Rock, Ark. Has acquired seven new waste collection trucks for the city.

The trucks cost nearly $3 million but will help the city solve its issues with trash pickup. At a conference earlier this week, Willie Hinton, Director, Fleet Services Department, said that the city has 27 waste collection trucks but half of them do not work.

"We had some issues with our fleet, as far as how it operated each day, so that caused us to get behind especially in yard waste when we had to address garbage collection with the equipment, we had available and had to delay yard waste," said Jon Honeywell, Director Public Works Department.

"These new trucks replacing those are the first step. We are also starting to work on some additional things for solid waste when it comes to routing software and hardware that we'll use in our trucks to help our drivers be more efficient in doing their routes each day.
