The Little Rock Zoo in Arkansas had an incredible 2023 for recycling thanks to local collaborations.
The zoo partnered with the Little Rock Sustainability Office and Keep Little Rock Beautiful to put on four successful recycling drives last year. The separate events were drive-throughs where participants could drop off recyclables, keeping waste out of landfills.
Through 2023, the zoo reported collecting 38.4 tons of recyclables combined from the four events. The zoo reports that all three of its elephants weigh 11.8 combined, putting the mass of materials collected in a common perspective.
