As of today, Mount Holly, N.C. residents will no longer have access to curbside recycling services following rising rates.
The decision came from the city’s recent council work session. The curbside recycling proposal would have seen rates increase by 87 percent for the year, increasing the previous rate of $5.18 per month for bi-monthly service to $9.71 per month. The proposal was unanimously rejected.
Mount Holly is the latest city in the area to end curbside recycling joining the likes of Gastonia, Shelby, Kings Mountain, and Bessemer who all ended services for similar reasons.
