Gaeta Recycling in Paterson, N.J., will expand its operations in 2017, increasing the number of trucks using the facility by about 40 per day.
That’s led to some concerns from the city’s mayor, who says that heavy truck traffic to the site has contributed to a pothole-ridden street where the company operates.
But Gaeta has suggestions for how to deal with the traffic and wear-and-tear on the road going forward.

Gaeta is suggesting that the city block off Genesse Avenue, converting it into a dead-end midway into the block. Gaeta said his trucks then would use the section of the vacated street near West Railway for access to his facility. He said the public would still have access to the rest of Genesse from Getty Avenue.
Gaeta said the plan would put an end to the current routes taken by trucks for his facility, routes that use Getty Avenue, Knickerbocker Avenue and Vesper Street.
“This will be better for everybody,” said Gaeta.
