Birmingham, Ala. has a new program that will look to help people properly dispose of reusable items and enhance the environment.

“Recycle Birmingham” is a new recycling program coming to the city that locals hope will help keep the environment clean and attract more people and businesses to the city. Birmingham will deliver recycling bins on a first-come, first-served basis to those who apply.

“Opt-in to recycling. Recycling is more than just putting your items in the recycle bin; it creates jobs, it creates economic opportunities, as well as it just creates a cleaner, greener community,” said Sade Mcclaney-Hammond, “Keeping Birmingham Beautiful” executive director.

“We always say we want it in our neighborhood, and then when we have the opportunity to get it changed, so let's take a part of it, let's do this.”
