No-Sort Curbside Recycling Considered for West Fargo, N.D.
October 7, 2014
West Fargo residents could soon be able to recycle more than just a few items from the convenience of their driveways.
Public Works Director Chris Brungardt asked the City Commission on Monday to approve a single-stream curbside recycling program that would allow residents to recycle plastic, cardboard, magazines, glass, and aluminum or tin through curbside pickup. Residents would not have to sort the recycling; instead they would dump all materials into one bin provided by the city.
City Administrator Jim Brownlee said the city currently has curbside pickup of tin, paper and glass only. The one recycling exception will be plastic bags.
Under the new system, residents would receive one 64-gallon bin with wheels that all materials could be placed in and then picked up curbside every two weeks.
