NWRA Celebrates Global Waste & Recycling Workers Week
June 18, 2020
Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) is celebrating Global Waste & Recycling Workers Week, which honors the hardworking men and women of the industry.
This year is especially important to recognize those in the industry because they have been working day in and day out on the frontlines during the pandemic. Considered essential by the Department of Homeland Security, waste and recycling workers have been hard at work keeping communities and the environment clean and safe.
“During this unprecedented global health crisis, waste and recycling collection workers remain on the job; they are vital,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We know from history that without reliable waste collection, illness and disease can spread. We encourage everyone to take a moment this week to thank your waste collection worker.”
