NWRA Unveils Grassroots Action Center
The online advocacy tool will help members and stakeholders contact lawmakers on issues related to the industry.
The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) has launched its Grassroots Action Center, a new online advocacy tool for members and stakeholders to contact lawmakers on issues important to the industry.
“Our members serve communities in every Congressional district, and we touch every person, home and business in the country. There are many issues discussed in Congress, state houses and city halls that affect our members. It is important they have the opportunity to communicate with the men and women who make decisions impacting their businesses, and I am pleased we are able to offer our members and industry stakeholders a robust tool that easily connects them with their government representatives,” said Darrell Smith, president and CEO of NWRA, in a statement. “This is particularly important at a time when China has tightened restrictions on imports of recyclable materials, and we are urging lawmakers to support efforts that encourage consumers to recycle smarter.”
Members and stakeholders can access the Grassroots Action Center to urge their legislative representatives to support industry efforts to reduce contamination in the recycling stream.
“While the NWRA Government Affairs team works daily to cultivate relationships with legislators and provide input on bills and regulations that impact the waste and recycling industry, nothing is more effective than for lawmakers to hear from the NWRA members who are their own constituents,” stated Jim Riley, vice president of federal affairs and deputy general counsel at NWRA, in a statement. “That is why NWRA has launched its Grassroots Action Center to give our members a fast and simple way to communicate with their elected officials.”
