Orange County, Fla. to Collect Campaign Signs for Recycling, Clean Energy

Orange County, Fla. is partnering with the city of Orlando, the city of Winter Park, and the League of Women Voters to collect campaign signs to be recycled.

Orange County, Fla. is partnering with the city of Orlando, the city of Winter Park, and the League of Women Voters to collect campaign signs to be recycled.

The campaign signs will be sent to NuCycle where they will be converted into Enviro-Fuelcubes, a cleaner energy source, to be used by the cement and electrical power industries instead of coal.

During the program’s first year, it kept 11,140 pounds of campaign signs out of landfills.

“The intent is to not send these single-use signs off to the landfill,” said Aimee Krivan, Pollution Prevention Program Coordinator with the County’s Environmental Protection Division. “We have found a way for these signs to have a second life.”
