Otsego County, Mich., Hires American Waste for Recycling Services

Officials in Otsego County, Mich., have awarded American Waste a four-year contract for countywide recycling collection services. American Waste was unanimously awarded the contract over Emmet County Recycling, which provided services since 2012.
American Waste came in as the lower bidder, and the costs will include hauling, processing and bin rental. The contract runs from June 1, 2019, through May 31, 2023.
According to a News-Review report, residents will see a few changes in the process when the switch is made from Emmet County to American Waste. The report notes that the recycling program will be accepting all of the same materials as before, plus Styrofoam now will be accepted.

American Waste has been awarded a four-year contract for recycling services in Otsego County.
At the Otsego County Board of Commissioners’ April 23 meeting, members unanimously approved the bid by American Waste over Emmet County Recycling, which has been providing the service since county voters approved the first recycling millage in 2012.
American Waste provided a bid of $818,000 for the four-year contact and will also receive a 5 percent local vendor allowance, reducing the total to $777,100, according to county documents. American Waste is considered a local company with a site in Gaylord at 254 Little League Drive.
