The city of San José, Calif., has launched a recycling program for all multi-family complexes. The city reports that its diversion rate for multi-family complexes has jumped from 35 percent to 75 percent since launching the program.

"We want to create a sustainable community in San José, and we can accomplish that by using innovative technologies and involving our community in new and creative approaches," said John Stufflebean, director of the city's Environmental Services Department, in a press release.
