UNC Charlotte is welcoming a new waste hauler onto campus this year as Crown Waste and Recycling Systems LLC takes over.

Crown Waste and Recycling Systems LLC took over waste hauling services at the beginning of July at the university. The female-owned company, based in Charlotte, will be responsible for emptying the campus dumpsters. Meanwhile, Republic Services will continue to serve the school, which it has done for decades, by collecting cardboard, recycling, and servicing the school for large events and projects.

Crown Waste and Recycling has brought in black dumpsters to the campus to begin its new contract. The new contract also aims to improve the performance of the campus’ waste management through improved data collection.
