Union Strike to Delay Recycling, Yard Waste Collection in Maryland County

The Anne Arundel County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) in Maryland has notified residents of an impending union strike that will delay recycling and yard waste collection.

The Anne Arundel County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) in Maryland has notified residents of an impending union strike that will delay recycling and yard waste collection.

Over the holiday weekend, the County alerted residents that members of Teamsters Local 750 were planning to strike. The union represents Ecology Services, Inc. workers who are responsible for the County’s recycling and yard waste which will affect Severna Park, Pasadena, Laurel, and Odenton, Md.

Officials are hopeful for a resolution and getting back to normal collections sometime next week, but that remains to be seen. The DPW has hired contractors to make up for the missed collections.
