West Orange, N.J. has decided on its waste collection, following lengthy discussions spurred by rising costs.

As the cost of waste and recycling collection continues to climb, officials in West Orange have come up with several options that would potentially change the area’s collection process. The council discussed four main options that would either: leave collection how it is, collect trash two times a week, collect trash once a week with no carts, or collect trash once a week with carts.

Officials settled on the first option, to leave collection as it is, earlier this week. But a discussion around change could pop up again next year.

“We are going to aggressively look at what our options are starting early next year, so we can be prepared for the end of this contract, should we wish to make any changes,” said Bill Rutherford, council president.
