Penn State Ups Recycling, Cleanup Efforts Ahead of Football Season

As Penn State gears up for a new football season this weekend, the school is reminding fans to be mindful of their tailgate areas and practices.

The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority is urging tailgaters to sort their recycling and trash to keep the area clean. The school is setting up blue bags for recycling and clear bags for trash throughout the tailgating field and stadium parking lot.

Full bags should be tied and left at the tailgate spot for Penn State staff and volunteers to pick up on Sunday morning.

Penn State football kicks off a new season on Saturday at Beaver Stadium, and that means tens of thousands of fans will be tailgating in the lots and fields around Beaver Stadium.

Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority wants those fans to remember that it's simple to sort recycling and trash and to keep their tailgate areas clean.

Plastic and glass bottles and metal cans go in blue bags for recycling. Everything else goes in clear bags for trash. Bag dispensers are available in every tailgating field and parking lot.
