The long-awaited waste-to-energy plant in Glenn County has taken its first big step toward becoming a reality.
About 20 people attended a scoping meeting Jan. 14 in Willows that launched the public participation period, as Glenn County officials prepare to guide owner Kara Baker of KVB, Inc. through the environmental review process.
The facility is proposed on Highway 32, north of Stony Creek, between Orland and Hamilton City.
Paul Miller, of the RCH Group, who is preparing KVB's environmental impact report, said the facility could receive and process as much as 200,000 to 500,000 tons of waste from Glenn County and Chico residents daily.
