Waste-to-Energy Plant In Bristol, Conn. Faces $80K OSHA Safety Fine

A Bristol plant that burns garbage to produce energy is facing $80,100 in proposed fines for violations of workplace health standards.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the violations at Covanta Energy Bristol Inc. include allowing combustible dust to accumulate on exposed surfaces and failing to determine the level of employees’ exposure to ash containing toxic metals.
