Washington, D.C. -- The Aluminum Association, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has announced a new vision for the aluminum industry. Called Sustainable Solutions for a Dynamic World, the association has set a list of goals based on President Bush's National Energy Plan.
Key goals of the aluminum industry vision include a 25 percent reduction in smelting energy by 2020, zero-net emissions of greenhouse gases on a lifecycle basis, an increase in the efficiency of primary aluminum production and secondary recycling processes, and an overall goal to conserve fuel and improve energy efficiency through recycling.
