A Berlin, Germany, car-recycling center has become a smashing success by providing a public need for therapy.
At the Autopresse Tempelhof car-recycling center, $2 buys a customer an hour of sledgehammer time with a car before it reaches the press, according to Andreas Schmidtke, managing director.
Typically, after only 10 minutes of destruction, customers leave with a smile. “They let out their frustration on the car wrecks before we put them in the press,” Schmidtke says. “The people who've tried it out so far seem satisfied. They leave here feeling better.”
He adds, “It's a form of stress relief for people who might otherwise be in need of a therapist.”
