Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued $21.5 million in brownfields grants under its Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund to communities in 17 states. The grants provide no-interest or low-interest loans to businesses to conduct cleanup activities at the sites.
The latest announcement comes after President George W. Bush signed legislation earlier this year to encourage the cleanup and redevelopment of industrial sites, and requested $200 million in his 2003 budget to revitalize brownfields.
