Pollution Prevention Pocketbook

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange, has published “Why should you care about preventing waste? — The Pollution Prevention Pocketbook.” The guide highlights national and regional pollution prevention resources and provides steps to identify opportunities, implement change and measure waste reduction successes to conserve resources and promote more efficient and profitable business practices. Baler Safety Video

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, D.C., offers “Working Safe and Smart with Balers,” a safety training video to prevent baler accidents and teach safety techniques. Available in both English and Spanish, the video provides safety information on vertical and horizontal balers. The free video is available by calling toll-free (877) 367-4774. Emissions Report

The Energy Information Administration (EIA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Washington, D.C., has released its annual “Emissions of Greenhouse Gas in the United States,” 2000 report. Prepared by the EIA's Office of Integrated Analysis and Forecasting, the report presents the latest estimates of emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases. Paper Recycling Guide

The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA), Washington, D.C., has published Paper Recycling Symbol Guidelines & Environmental Marketing Claims, a revised guide for using the paper recycling symbol. The guide includes information on making environmental marketing claims, and updated information from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the International Organization for Standardization (IOS) on using the recycling symbol. Scrap Tire Directory

The Recycling Research Institute, Merrifield, Va., offers the Scrap Tire & Rubber Users Directory.
