Stamford, Conn. -- Keep America Beautiful (KAB) Inc. will launch its annual Great American Cleanup campaign on March 20, the first day of spring, and will last until May.

Last year, more than 2 million volunteers helped to pick-up litter, paint over graffiti and beautify parks throughout the country. Every year, volunteers also refurbish public playgrounds, clean waterways and shorelines, conduct clothing collections and recycling activities, clear illegal dumpsites and host litter-free events.

This year's theme is Liberty Gardens to encourage volunteers to plant flowers and plants in public areas to celebrate patriotism and honor the memories of those who perished in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.
