NSWMA, Others File Amicus Brief with U.S. Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. -- The National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court on Dec. 10 in the United Haulers Association, Inc. v Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Management Authority case.

The NSWMA brief was filed in support of the United Haulers' Sept. 2001 petition for certiorari and urges the court to hear the case. Other groups joining NSWMA's brief include the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), all based in Washington, D.C.

The Court is expected to announce its decision on either Jan. 22 or Feb. 19. If it is announced on Jan. 19, the case may be briefed and argued as early as next spring and decided as early as next summer.
