Republic Services Inc. has appointed Glenn Culpepper executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Jan.9.

The Phoenix-based Republic said in a news release Culpepper will succeed Tod Holmes, who is retiring.

Culpepper, 56, joins Republic from Summit Materials, a building materials company, where he was chief financial officer for the past two years. Prior to that, he worked for 21 years at CRH PLC, a construction materials company in Dublin, Ireland, including two years as its principal financial officer and 13 years as the chief financial officer of its North American operations.

"We are fortunate to have an executive with Glenn's deep financial background and proven leadership join the senior executive team at Republic," said Donald Slager, president and CEO of the waste and recycling company. "Glenn's experience at large, decentralized, growth-oriented industrial companies is a perfect fit for our organization."
