SWANA Announces 2009 Professional Achievement Award Winners

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has announced the winners of its 2009 Professional Achievement Awards. The awards “recognize individuals who, through the course of their careers, have made significant contributions to the solid waste management profession,” according to a SWANA press release.

The winners will be recognized during SWANA’s Annual Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 24, which will take place during WASTECON 2009 in Long Beach, Calif.
The winners are:

Professional Achievement Award — Public Member: Russell Reiserer, solid waste manager for the city of Palo Alto, Calif.

Life Member Award: Patrick Holland, retired executive director of 
Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, Cleveland, Ohio.

Life Member Award: Robert P. Stearns, chairman and founding principal of SCS Engineers, Long Beach, Calif.
