Waste Management Reports Net Income Increases

Houston -- Waste Management Inc. has reported net income for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2001, of $158 million, compared with $39 million for the same quarter the previous year. Income after adjustments for unusual costs and certain other items was $198 million, compared with $181 million last year. Revenues were $2.79 billion, compared with revenues of $2.88 billion in 2000.

For the 2001 year, net income was $503 million, compared with a net loss of $97 million in 2000. Revenues were $11.32 billion, compared with revenues of $12.49 billion.
