ACT Partners With Federal Government to Build New Composting and Recycling Facilities, Cut Emissions by a Third

Australia's federal government recently announced a $13 million project to fund a composting facility large enough to process food and garden waste in Canberra, the nation's capital.

The project with collect waste from 5,000 households and is expected to divert 50,000 tonnes of organic waste. City Services Minister Chris Steel hopes the facility is functioning within 18 months.

There is also a $23 million recycling facility being built nearby in Hume. Both projects are huge testaments to the authority's commitment to reducing waste.
