A Mecklenburg County composting company said last week that it has opened an operation in Advance.
Wallace Farm Inc. began operations on a 162-acre site off Lee Jackson Drive in mid-November with five employees. It has operated a compost facility in Huntersville since the 1960s.
The facilities accept organic waste materials and speed up the decomposition process to convert the materials into rich soil. Uses can include top soils, garden soils and potting mixes that Wallace sells under its brand and also private labels for large retailers.
