Lenovo Implements AI in E-Waste Refurbishment Program

Lenovo is continuing its commitment to the environment by advancing its electronic waste management program by utilizing AI.

Lenovo’s Certified Refurbished program offers high-quality, pre-owned devices that were manually inspected by engineers. This is a labor-intensive job that was subjected to inefficiency and human error. Now, Lenovo has developed an AI solution that utilizes machine learning and computer vision technology to automate device inspections.

Lenovo says it has seen an increase of 116% in average output units per hour for refurbished devices with the AI-powered program. The program improved smartphone refurbishment so much that Lenovo has saved $100,000 annually which will be used to reinvest into sustainable practices and AI development.
