The nation of Cameroon is attempting to navigate the e-waste recycling system currently in place within the country.
November 7, 2022
In the scrap-metal district of Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, many people are breaking down e-waste into piles of what is usable and what is not. In doing this, however, they are often breaking open materials that can be toxic to them and their environments. In order to combat this, the government of Cameroon has established several regulations surrounding the recycling of tech waste. Under these laws, Solidarite was established as one of the first governmentally-approved recycling groups.
