Researchers at West Virginia University are investigating new uses for discarded electronics. Receiving more than $250,000 from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency at the U.S. Department of Defense, the program is looking into using the recovered material from these electronics for products used for national defense.
Directors of the program explain how different this recycling process would be compared to traditional e-waste recycling. They are adamant about the importance of programs like this for self-reliance on important materials.
