ABQ Using Solid Waste Funds to Replace Garbage Trucks

You may have noticed a bunch of shiny, new garbage trucks around Albuquerque recently. It's the halfway mark of the Solid Waste Management Department's vehicle replacement plan that is costing about $58 million.

So far, 200 new garbage trucks have hit city streets – about half of the city's entire fleet.

"It's important so that we make sure that we have a safe proper working fleet for our employees and for the citizens of Albuquerque," said Solid Waste spokesman Bobby Sisneros.
