CurbWaste Raises $10 Million Series A Round to Digitize the Waste Hauling Industry
Company’s vertical SaaS platform offers a unified operating system with embedded financial products so waste haulers no longer need to patch together generic software tools and can now optimize revenue and business operations.
December 14, 2023
New York, N.Y. CurbWaste, a SaaS platform that empowers waste services companies to manage and streamline their operations from haul to disposal, today announced a $10 million Series A round led by Flourish Ventures with participation from TTV Capital, Mucker Capital and B Capital. The latest round brings CurbWaste’s total financing to $20 million.
According to Grand View Research, the 2021 U.S. waste management market reached $314 billion for collection, transportation and disposal. The waste-hauling industry is a mix of family-owned enterprises that have been operating for multiple generations and hundreds of mid-market businesses. However, because the waste management workflow is so verticalized and nuanced, it has not benefited much from SaaS solutions, the cloud and digital workflows.
"To make it worthwhile for waste-haulers to try a new digital financial platform, there must be immediate value provided and the software must reflect a clear understanding of their business processes and workflow," said Emmalyn Shaw, Managing Director of Flourish Ventures. "CurbWaste's founders are the first to crack this code because they have such deep, hands-on experience in the industry. Their 2023 sales traction is proof that their vertical SaaS platform with embedded financial products is exactly what waste companies need to transform their businesses."
CurbWaste’s data-driven solution streamlines customer and order management, real-time dispatch and automated billing, allowing waste companies to spend time on high-conviction, high-ROI activities and engage in more sustainable environmental initiatives. This latest round of funding enables CurbWaste to continue to build out its platform and give haulers more informed ways of managing waste. The company is building functionality including services for billing automations, embedded lending and payouts, and higher-level reporting requirements. The rising fintech is preparing to release an AI-powered chatbot that will bring a CSR via text and learn order patterns to better service our subscribers' customers.
CurbWaste Celebrates Another Record Year
Today’s Series A funding announcement caps a list of many significant achievements in 2023. In the past 11 months, CurbWaste’s annual recurring revenue grew 900% and is processing millions in monthly transactions for its customers. In addition, CurbWaste expanded its national market share with haulers and disposal centers in 30 states, ranging from urban, suburban and rural settings. Other 2023 achievements include:
Upgraded platform infrastructure and architecture to improve application performance and scalability.
Integrated its payments functionality enabling waste companies to improve their cash flow.
Released an ecommerce module that allows CurbWaste clients to capture net new revenue via their websites.
Launched an automated routing beta release to serve as the foundation for mid-market waste haulers.
“Since starting CurbWaste in 2022, we have worked tirelessly to bring meaningful software to the nuanced waste industry that is often overlooked,” said Michael Marmo, Founder and CEO of CurbWaste. “We owe it to our loyal customers for making this possible, believing in our vision and partnering with us. Although we were well capitalized and weren’t actively fundraising, it was clear that adding additional capital and partnering with Flourish Ventures would help speed up our vision. I could not be more proud of our team and what we have been able to accomplish in 2023. We will continue on our mission to innovate the waste industry and empower haulers that are incredibly impactful to their local communities with the most modern solutions.”
