Micron Waste Testifies to Canadian Senate Regarding Cannabis Waste Management Innovations

Micron Waste Technologies Inc., a Canadian organic waste management company, presented information regarding the development of its onsite cannabis waste treatment system during testimony to the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry (AGFO) on March 27.

“Micron’s solution is on track to be installed at Aurora’s facility by June of this year,” said Alfred Wong, president of Micron Waste, during the session. “This onsite process will minimise the cost of shipping cannabis waste to landfill or composting facilities and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint. Our clean agricultural technology will provide licensed producers with an environmentally-sound, cost-effective solution for cannabis waste treatment and is anticipated to be able to meet the scale of Canada’s growing cannabis industry.”

Micron’s onsite treatment system will remove traceable, active cannabinoid residues such as THC and CBD from cannabis waste, and then treat the waste to meet municipal sewage bylaw standards. The first operational unit will be installed at Aurora’s cultivating facility in Cremona, Alberta, Canada.
