Soft-Pak, San Diego, offers a software program for managing waste hauling operations. Using the system, managers can track dispatching, routing, billing and collection services. The system also can be used with on-board computers, allowing operators to transmit information instantly to drivers, the company says. The company also offers Web-Pak, a Web-based service that allows residents to order and pay for services online.

Scales

TruckWeight

TruckWeight, Halifax, Nova Scotia, offers Smart Scale, an onboard scale for trucks, tractors and trailers with air suspensions. The scale features an anodized aluminum housing that can be mounted anywhere on a vehicle without a bracket. The unit incorporates the company's Smart Sensor technology, which measures temperatures and pressure changes in an air suspension. The information is transmitted to a handheld receiver using wireless technology with a range of up to 500 ft. The receiver provides an axle weight and gross vehicle weight within 150 lbs., the company says. The scale does not require wires for hook up.

Scraper

Ashland Industries

The Ground Hog 2500 from Ashland Industries, Ashland, Wis., is designed for use with compact track loaders and skid steers with steel tracks. The scraper is mounted on a universal quick attach plate that is found on its power unit. The plate is attached to a rear-pivoting axle, allowing the scraper to float separately from the power unit, which is used for traction and hydraulics. The scraper's oscillating front beam and large caster handle a large portion of weight to reduce stress to the loader arms, the company says. The oscillating beam features 38 degrees of rotation for uniform cutting when used on uneven ground. According to the company, low-flow auxiliary hydraulics control scraper functions, eliminating the need for boom controls. A safety chain prevents operators from accidentally lifting loader arms. The scraper has a 2.5-cu.-yd. capacity when used with compact power units.

Rotary Lift, Madison, Ind., has introduced the SL210-MP8 Moveable Pad SmartLift, an inground lift that features a 2 3/8-in. profile for maintaining low-profile vehicles. With a 8,000-lb lifting capacity and a 73 3/8-in. rise, the lift is designed for quick service operations, tire and brake work, and routine maintenance. It uses four pads that can slide under a vehicle's recommended pick-up points. Operators can work in a 36 ¾-in. unobstructed area between supports. The lift is available with a multi-position spotting dish. According to the company, the lift's cylinders and hydraulic hoses can be serviced without removing it from the ground.
