Sanitation workers in Queens, NY recently saved a kitten destined for the landfill after someone dumped it in a trash can.
John Kase and his colleague William Montero were completing their route when they heard a meow. After frantically searching through numerous bags of trash, they found an orange kitten. Their supervisor notified a local animal rescue and who took the kitten in to nurse it to health.
Montero told the Daily News that this wasn't his first time rescuing an animal from being thrown away.
