October 20, 2021
City of Industry, Calif. – Athens Services has been presented the Legacy of Hope Award from St. Francis Center for the company’s support of the social services agency. The award was presented at the 12th Annual Friends of St. Francis Center Gala in Los Angeles on Oct. 2, 2021.
Since 2017, Athens has worked with St. Francis to expand food rescue opportunities in Los Angeles, specifically in the North Central, West LA, and Harbor areas. Athens’ infrastructure grants have supported the collection and distribution of 82,000 pounds of edible food to those in need. The grants also funded the installation of refrigerators and stoves at the center.
Jessica Aldridge, Director of Sustainability and Zero Waste Programs for Athens, received the award on behalf of Athens. “Our partnership with St. Francis helps us address the environmental impacts and inefficiencies in our food system while helping support those most vulnerable in our communities,” Aldridge said.
St. Francis has provided relief and support to homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families in Los Angeles since 1972.
“We are pleased to recognize Athens Services for its constant work toward alleviating food insecurity. They help us ensure that we can put fresh, nutritious food on the tables of those most in need,” said Jasmine Bravo, St. Francis Executive Director.
Athens Services is a landfill avoidance company in Southern California. Family-owned and operated since 1957, Athens was founded on the simple principle of providing exceptional service by hiring and developing great people while fostering a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment; that’s The Athens Way.
