Chipotle to Increase Composting Efforts at Restaurant Locations

Chipotle is placing a greater focus on its waste reduction efforts, educating customers about the proper disposal of its bowls and utensils.
The fast-casual establishment already diverts nearly half - or 49 percent - of its waste from landfills, yet only 32 percent of its restaurants currently compost. The company currently has more than 3,200 restaurants and plans to open another 250 in 2023.
Chipotle's bowls, bags, napkins and quesadilla trays are currently compostable.It's currently looking into alternative for its single-use plasticware such as forks and plastic cups for salsa and guacamole. The company says varying composting laws are making it difficult to achieve.
