A section of Barrington, Ill., is the site of a pilot project that could lead to Illinois’ first curbside food waste collection and composting program, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune. The project is slated to run through November and is a joint effort of Barrington officials, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County and Groot Industries, private firm contracted to collect waste in the community.

Fox Point is the neighborhood in which the Barrington project is being conducted. For more information on the pilot project, visit www.swancc.org/foodwaste.html.
