Nashville Mayor Launches Food Savor Challenge to Reduce Food Waste in Restaurants
Restaurants that choose to participate in the program will receive specific suggestions on how to reduce food waste and will be required to track and report on their progress.
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry launched the Food Savor challenge on Monday in an effort to get local restaurants to reduce food waste and ultimately minimize landfill gases, help feed the hungry and reduce food costs.

Mayor Megan Barry has called upon Nashville restaurateurs to waste less food in a broader effort to minimize landfill gases, help feed the hungry and reduce food costs.
Barry announced the Mayor’s Food Saver Challenge on Monday in conjunction with a James Beard Foundation Chef Advocacy Training program at Miel with 21 of the city’s most high-profile chefs and restaurateurs, including Deb Paquette of Etch and Etc., Dale Levitski of Fin & Pearl and Jeremy Barlow of Sloco.
