San Diego Residents Prepare for Mandatory Food Recycling

Californians are getting ready for impending changes in the way they handle food waste.

Residents will have to dispose of food waste in new green recycling bins, a transition that will need to take place by January 2022. The requirements were imposed by CalRecycle.

The San Diego Union-Tribune recently interviewed Ken Prue, environmental services deputy director at the city of San Diego about how the new program will work.
