USDA Provides Tips on Reducing Thanksgiving Food Waste

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has posted tips that explain how families can reduce food waste this Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the agency, a family of four wastes $1,500 to uneaten food — that’s about 1,160 pounds of food each year. Tips include planning the holiday meal, saving scraps, storing leftovers, composting and donating food.

The USDA pointed to the FoodKeeper App as a way to help reduce food waste.
