Bowling Green, Ohio, Recycling Center to Start Accepting Glass Again

While cities and counties like Kingsport, Tenn., Knoxville, Tenn., DeKalb County, Ga., and New Orleans are putting an end to glass collection and processing, the 24-hour Bowling Green Recycling Center in Ohio is now accepting glass again after a two-month break.
During the two-month break, the city of Bowling Green and Owens-Illinois explored other alternatives for glass collection and processing. After much research, they found that their original system was the least complicated and the least labor-intensive choice.

The Bowling Green Recycling Center started accepting glass for recycling this morning, after a two-month hiatus.
Bring glass to the 24-hour drop-off in Bowling Green, the 24-hour drop-off in Bradner and the weekend-drop-off in North Baltimore and in the satellite trailers.
The Bowling Green center is temporarily adding additional capacity in anticipation of higher than normal glass volumes. Recyclers are reminded that lids should be removed, containers rinsed and placed in the specially marked bins in the drop-offs and trailers. Glass is not accepted through the commingled curbside recycling programs for reasons of employee safety.
