Professionals seeking career changes or those who just want a night job should consider hauling trash. Plenty already have.

Executives from fields as broad as a former U.S. military weapons specialist, an orthopedic surgeon and a professional baseball coach are becoming trash haulers through 1-800-Got-Junk? And they're loving it.

According to Brian Scudamore, president of the junk removal company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, many professionals call 1-800-Got Junk? looking for something new to spice up their regular routines. Trash hauling is fun and financially rewarding, which can help alleviate the stress that comes with the corporate world.

Scudamore came up with the idea 12 years ago when he bought a used pickup truck and started “The Rubbish Boys,” a junk removal service with the slogan, “We'll Stash Your Trash in a Flash!” After some success, he invested in more trucks, hired student drivers and set out to make the business what it is today.

Since its start, 1-800-Got Junk? has hauled more than 20,000 loads, including items such as half of a lawnmower, more than 19,000 cans of spoiled sardines and thousands of homemade canned goods from a woman's basement.
